A visitor visa to the UK is mostly granted for up to 6 months and they are usually issued when you wish to visit your friends or family in the UK. Issuing of a visa is dependent on your nationality, your length and purpose of stay in the UK.
If you are a national of a country that doesn’t need a visa, then you should still prepare yourself to explain to the border force why you are visiting the UK, as they can refuse entry if they are not satisfied with your explanation.
Although a visitor visa is valid for 6 months, you can apply for longer periods: 1, 2, 5 or 10 years, which may be convenient for those people who visit the UK regularly. However, these long term visas still only allow you to stay in the UK for up to 6 months at any given time; exceptions to this are for those who are here for academic reasons, medical treatments or visiting parents of children at school in the UK.
There are many types of visitor visas available, such as business, academic, medical, tourist, marriage etc. and they all require different eligibility requirements. Get in touch with us for further guidance and help.
